Spoilbank Marina August Update

Construction of the marina is progressing well, with marina pen pontoons and gangways installed, 70 per cent of the breakwaters and revetments complete, and piling for the public jetty under way.

Pilbara Ports would like to remind the community to steer clear of the marina when in your boats and jet skis, as there are underwater hazards that present a danger – especially at high tide.

The $187.5 million Spoilbank Marina is being managed by Pilbara Ports, and is funded by the State Government, Town of Port Hedland and BHP

Ranger Review

Please pick up after your dogs!

The Town of Port Hedland Parks and Gardens team recently reported "encountering" 82 dog poos while carrying out maintenance work on Kevin Scott Oval in South Hedland over a one-month period.

The Town's ovals and sporting reserves are widely used by the entire community - including sports teams and associations - for people of all ages.

This kind of contamination on our sporting fields is a health hazard, so dog owners are urged to use the designated off-leash areas and clean-up after your pet!

Projects Propelling Hedland

As a part of the Town’s ongoing commitment to provide the community with access to facilities and services that promote a healthy and active lifestyle, refurbishment works at Wanangkura Stadium have started.

The works will expand the available gym area to better meet the needs of Hedland’s growing population and help accommodate the installation of new equipment.

Gym expansion works will take four weeks and started on Monday, 7 August.

On completion, new equipment will be installed, and all staff will undergo extensive training on the new equipment, before the facility will be reopened to the community in September.

While works are ongoing, members will not be charged, with the facilities at Gratwick Fitness Centre and Gratwick Aquatic Centre available for free to members.

Courts and function areas at the Stadium will not generally be affected, however there may be minor disruptions to accommodate construction.
