excess green waste from your property. It is important to minimise the
risk of flying debris during a cyclonic weather event.
Collection commences on Monday 15 September, and ALL residents must have their green waste ready and on their verge by this date.

2025 Markyt Community Scorecard - Our community sentiment survey
Opens Monday 25 August
Residents aged 14 and over are invited to provide feedback on local services, facilities, and leadership to help inform the 2026 Council Plan.
Conducted by an independent research organisation, the survey is anonymous and offers residents a chance to share their views on the Town’s performance and priorities. This marks the third biennial survey, building on previous efforts to capture community sentiment and guide strategic planning.

World Mosquito Day - 20 August
Did you know? World Mosquito Day is celebrated on August 20 each year to mark the date in 1897 when British doctor Sir Ronald Ross figured out that female Anopheles mosquitoes spread malaria between people.
With cyclone season approaching, there often comes rain - which makes the perfect breeding ground for mosquito populations.
The Town encourages all residents and businesses to take precautions in protecting themselves from bites - and is committed to continuing monitoring and supporting the control of mosquito numbers as demonstrated in the Mosquito Management Plan.
