"The Town has some awesome events coming up over the next few months - there will be something for everyone."
|
Peter Carter, Mayor of the Town of Port Hedland

|
It's events season in Hedland and the festivities kicked off
on the weekend of 12-14 May with a sea of colour in South Hedland.
The Welcome to Hedland weekender combined the annual Community Expo with a Street Art Festival - which was part of the 50th anniversary celebrations for South Hedland.
Twelve murals have been painted in the South Hedland town square - and they are amazing! Half of them were
painted by local artists and the end result is a vibrant legacy the community will enjoy for years to come.
There were 60 food vendors and stallholders at the Community Expo and it was terrific to see so many families and young people enjoying the festivities.
The popular Sunset Food Markets kick off at Marapikurrinya Park on Friday 19 May from 5:00pm-9:00pm. The markets are held
under ambient lighting and feature food vendors, family friendly activities, live music and a market bar.

Spoilbank Marina May Update |
|
|
|
Do you have a story to tell?
The Spoilbank Marina team is seeking community stories that could be selected for display as part of signage within the new marina development.
These stories might be traditional, historical or contemporary. They might be happy, sad or perhaps even a little nostalgic. They might be big stories or small. What’s most important for this project is that all stories are heartfelt and true.
We want to gather a diverse collection of stories from all walks of life.
If you have a story, please email your name, a contact number and some information about your story to spoilbank.marina@pilbaraports.com.au.
The $187.5 million Spoilbank Marina is being managed by the Pilbara Ports Authority, and is funded by the State Government, Town of Port Hedland and BHP

SAFETY COMES FIRST
As tempting as it might be - especially as our nights start to cool down a bit - due to Port Hedland's dry and arid climate, fires need to be prohibited year-round.
Even your little fire pit in the backyard can become dangerous, so it is important to know that any open fire, fire pit or fireplaces are not allowed.
If you wish to have a fire to reduce your fuel load, you can apply for a permit with the Town of Port Hedland. Call the Fire Control Officers on 9150 9300 and we might be able to help.
