OCT 2024

It has been a busy month with Council holding two meetings - our Ordinary Council Meeting on 25 September and a Special Council Meeting on 11 October.

It was pleasing to have a resolution passed at the September meeting that will further reduce rental costs for our ten GP houses. You can read more about this below.

The Council also considered a motion related to COVID-19 vaccines at its 11 October meeting. Any Councillor is able to bring a motion forward for consideration and, in this case, the motion was passed - as we shared on our Facebook page

Earlier this month, we also had the Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) and Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) attend the Civic Centre for a Cyclone Season Outlook for 2024/2025.

While it's no surprise that cyclonic weather is predicted to hit Port Hedland this year, it was a timely reminder to be cyclone aware - especially with the new Australian Warning System changes that are now in effect.

To make sure you're across all cyclone information, you can check out the briefing video here, and access the new cyclone booklet here.

Lastly, the final Sunset Food Markets will be held tomorrow at Marapikurrinya Park, so I encourage you to head down and enjoy the balmy evening, and close out a fantastic events season!
