The nomination period for candidates for the Local Government election on 28 March have closed.
It is really pleasing to see so many people have put their hand up to run in the election, with eight nominations for Mayor and 14 for councillor positions.
Representing your community on Council comes with a lot of sacrifice and responsibility, so we would like to commend all those who are putting themselves forward for the election.
Voting packs are expected to start landing in mailboxes very soon, so we would encourage everyone to get engaged with the election process and have your say on who you want to represent you on the Town of Port Hedland Council.
There are more than 9000 eligible voters in the Local Government Area, so it is important to get behind those who you want to lead the community by voting.
It is important to note your completed voting pack must reach the Returning Officer by 6:00pm on 28 March. So don’t delay in filling out your voting pack, post it as early as possible.
You can also hand deliver your postal voting papers - or obtain a replacement package if you don’t receive one or any papers are missing - during business hours before election day at:
South Hedland Library:
-
Mon - Weds 10:00am - 5:00pm
-
Thursday 10:00am - 6:00pm
-
Friday 9:00am - 5:00pm
-
Saturday 10:00am - 1:00pm
Town of Port Hedland Civic Centre:
You will also be able to hand deliver voting papers to an electoral officer, or obtain a replacement package, between 8:00am - 6:00pm on election day at the Civic Centre in Port Hedland and the South Hedland Library.
Now is the time to have your say on the make-up of the new Town of Port Hedland Council. Your voice matters and you have the ability to shape the future. |
