July 2025

Fantastic progress is being made across our playground precincts.

On Monday 14 July, we officially opened the new learn to ride track and playspace at Marquee Park. This space features Hedland's first ever traffic lights!

Construction has also kicked off on the much-anticipated Spoilbank Marina playground, made possible thanks to a generous $4 million Lotterywest grant.

Over in South Hedland, work is now underway at Limestone Park, where new playground equipment is being installed. You can read more about these playground projects here!

Next month, the annual Ship to Shore community fun run returns - and this time at the new location of Spoilbank Marina! Registrations are now open so come and join in on the fun.

Think before you toss!

South Hedland Landfill staff have reported a spike in batteries and e-waste showing up in general waste bins - and even recycling bins. Hedland residents are reminded to do their part to keep our community safe by disposing of these items properly.

Disposing of e-waste in general bins not only harms the environment - but also poses a significant safety risk to landfill staff, as these devices often contain hazardous materials and chemicals which can cause fires.

E-waste includes items such as mobile phones, computers, car batteries, TVs and printers.

South Hedland Landfill is open 7 days a week, with various dedicated bins for household e-waste items. Battery recycling bins are located at the Civic Centre, Wedgefield Administration Depot, Port and South Library, as well as the landfill.
